Submission #11

Cleo (the dog) and Piper (the cat) practicing social distancing during the pandemic.

Submission # 12

A poem by Pearl, Social Distancing Advocate

During this crazy time, we should do our part,

So please think twice when you fill your cart,

Think of your neighbors who are truly in need,

Because times are tough, but it could be worst indeed,

Practicing Social Distancing is really smart,

So remember to wear your mask and stand six feet apart

We hope everyone is safe and healthy! Thank you!

Submission # 13:

Dear ABC,

We’ve loved you for years and still love you. Here is our contest entry: Our cat, Zuzu. (When you saw her, right after we adopted her, we were thinking of naming her “Olive,” which is the name you have in your files, but right after that visit we decided to officially name her Zuzu–after Zuzu’s petals in It’s a Wonderful Life. She’s now 8 months old and healthy and eating a lot!)

In this photo, Zuzu is doing her part as I work from home. Not until I started working form home did she discover this “under the computer stand” hiding place, and she’s been there every day while I work since (when she isn’t asking to play).

Thank you for having this contest!

Submission # 14

Phineas (left) and Cheeto (right) Lind have been working on their model poses during quarantine. Cheeto really knows how to work the camera!

Submission # 15

We call her Thingy now, because she is so calm it’s preternatural.

Submission # 16

Angel. This is him social distancing under some bed sheets.

Submission # 17

Yogi was turned into a meme!

Submission # 18

Mabel, a blue heeler rescue, is dreaming of better days at the dog park with all of her four-legged friends in the East Village.

*Mabels mom also submitted an amazing video which will be posted on our social media pages!

Submission # 19

Buster is a sweetheart, but he likes to feign annoyance with that brow! He wants us to think he hates us being home all the time — couldn’t be further from the truth!

We adopted Buster from a Craigslist ad. He’s been passed around a few homes in his life but we can confidently say this will be his last! He’s funny, personable, easily angered, and a talker — the best quarantine entertainment one can ask for!

Submission # 20

I’m blaming my typos on my cat.

ABC Best Pet Social Distancing Contest: First 10 submissions and one extra!

ABC Best Pet Social Distancing Contest!

Hello everybody! A huge thank you to all who have submitted your pictures. It’s so exciting to see how all our pets are doing and dealing with social distancing. Here are the first 10 submissions with a first extra surprise submission.

Submission #0: What a lovely surprise. It’s Pepsi and Scooter, Dr. Tufaro’s dogs. We told them they were not eligible for the prizes but they wanted to join in on all the fun. Look at them social distancing so nicely!

Submission #1: Diogenes and Aloysius

They are very healthy. With this isolation I get closer and closer to them. Maybe one day they will let me pick them up.

Submission #2: Sophia

Sophia Law is a very independent and sophisticated diva. If there’s any position where she takes a strong stand, it’s social distancing. She’ll go as far as keeping a distance from her 22-year-old brother Romeo and hiding underneath the sheets.

I think Sophia should win because she’s always been a survivor. I remember adopting her 16 years ago. Even then, she was an adult cat. In January of 2019, she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at ABC. Since then, she’s been stronger than ever. Please consider our beloved tabby for Best Cat!

Submission #3 Casanova

This is Casanova. During his stay at home time he has enjoyed extra cuddles from him humans who are ALWAYS around to love on him now, annoying his sister V, and of course trying to catch that damned red light that alludes him every time! What Cass enjoys the most however, are the long naps on his moms bed where he tucks himself under the blankets. Cass likes to think he’s showing us all how to stay calm. Be like Cass, stay home and comfy.

Dogs are man’s best friends more than we can ever imagine.

We take care of each other. And with the spring season upon us, it is important that we follow-up with their health and wellness check ups. Although always a threat, parasites are more prevalent in the warmer weather. If you haven’t done so already, this is the time to begin using heartworm, flea and tick medication to protect your pets from disease. As well as the recent leptospirosis scare this year, it’s possible that this will also be a high risk year for Lyme disease.  We also offer Lyme and leptospirosis vaccines. Depending on your pets and their lifestyle, we can work together to come up with an appropriate protection plan for your pets. Here at ABC Animal Hospital, we put your pets first. We want your family to enjoy the season — together.

Call ABC Animal Hospital at (212) 358-0785 to schedule your pet’s next wellness visit, get your pets tested for heartworm, and to pick up heartworm, flea, and tick medication. Don’t forget to give us a ‘like’, ‘tweet’ and ‘follow’ on social media.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tufaro and the staff at ABC Animal Hospital
